Complete 30-Day Calm Transformation Guide — Ultimate Kit
The 30-Day Calm Transformation
A complete owner coaching programme for lasting behavioural change.
Before Day 1 — Setup
- Fit the pheromone collar today. Takes 7–10 days to reach full effectiveness.
- Position the Calming Bed in your dog's preferred rest location. Add a worn clothing item for the first 3 days.
- Begin feeding all meals through the Snuffle Mat from Day 1.
- Identify your dog's top 3 anxiety triggers before Day 1. Write them down.
Week 1 — Foundation (Days 1–7)
| Day | Focus | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | System setup | Collar fitted. Bed introduced with familiar scent item. Snuffle Mat: easy visible treats. Note baseline behaviour. |
| 2 | Snuffle + Bed | Light treat hides in mat. Place treats inside Calming Bed bolster — do not force use, let dog choose. |
| 3 | Lick Mat intro | Frozen Lick Mat alongside Snuffle Mat. Note jaw loosening, eye softening, body lowering — the physical signs of calm. |
| 4 | Sniffing Book intro | Introduce on easiest page. Treats in open folds only. Note foraging behaviour — nose working, paw use, sustained attention. |
| 5 | Puzzle intro | Demonstrate once then step back. Help only if real frustration appears. Goal: curiosity, not independence yet. |
| 6 | First full sequence | Morning: Snuffle Mat (10 min) then Puzzle (5 min) then Frozen Lick Mat. Evening: Sniffing Book with dinner portion. |
| 7 | Baseline review | Lick Mat only. Compare to Day 1: anxiety triggers, restlessness, sleep quality, reactivity. Document honestly. |
Week 2 — Progression (Days 8–14)
| Day | Focus | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| 8 | Difficulty up | Deeper mat hides. Puzzle on medium. Sniffing Book: treats in deeper folds. Only increase if Week 1 showed confident engagement. |
| 9 | Departure cues | Pick up keys/bag/coat. Sit back down. Reward calm. Repeat 5x. Do not leave. Break the cue-anxiety association. |
| 10 | Pre-departure test | Full morning sequence 30 min before leaving. Depart without fuss. Away 30–45 min. Note return-greeting behaviour. |
| 11 | Sniffing Book++ | Rotate which pages you hide treats in. Introduce higher-value treats for harder pages. Use daily alongside or rotating with mat. |
| 12 | Trigger Step 2 | Pick up cues, put on coat, walk to door. Stop. Do not leave. Return to sofa. Pair with Lick Mat throughout. |
| 13 | Independence | Leave room, close door, return after 2 minutes. Extend by 1 minute daily. No response to vocalisations. |
| 14 | Week 2 review | Full circuit. Compare departure response to Day 10. Is the Bed being used voluntarily? Document carefully. |
Week 3 — Consolidation (Days 15–21)
| Day | Focus | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| 15 | Extended departure | Full circuit then 60–90 minutes away. Was Lick Mat finished? Was Sniffing Book engaged? Calm or distressed on return? |
| 16 | Trigger Step 3 | Full departure routine then step outside. Return after 60 seconds. Reward calm. Critical bridge to real departure tolerance. |
| 17 | Meal rotation | Alternate meals: Snuffle Mat one day, Sniffing Book the next. Puzzle for one meal per day. No food bowl this week. |
| 18 | Noise session | Play calming dog audio during morning session alongside Lick Mat. Builds positive associations with ambient sound. |
| 19 | Advanced puzzle | Highest difficulty. No assistance. Note patience vs Week 1 — most dogs show significantly improved impulse control by now. |
| 20 | Observation day | No formal session. Observe natural resting behaviour. Is the Calming Bed used spontaneously? Settling speed? Reactivity reduced? |
| 21 | Halfway review | 3-week behaviour comparison across all key metrics. This is typically the most encouraging review of the programme. |
Nutritional note: Omega-3 fatty acids (DHA/EPA) support neurological calm in dogs. If anxiety is severe, consider a high-quality omega-3 supplement alongside this programme. Consult your vet before adding any supplement.
Week 4 — Long-Term Habits (Days 22–30)
| Day | Focus | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| 22 | Real-world test | Full circuit then 2–3 hour departure. Note: mat engagement, bed use, greeting behaviour on return. |
| 23 | Novel enrichment | New scent or food type in Snuffle Mat (fresh herbs, different protein). Novelty re-engages habituated dogs. Rotate weekly from now. |
| 24 | Collar check | Replace collar within the next 6 days if Day 1 was your fit date. No gap between collars. |
| 25 | Sniffing Book max | All pages, deepest folds, no prompting. Full foraging complexity the book is designed to deliver. |
| 26 | Environment practice | If anxious around others: Lick Mat session in a location with mild background activity — quiet park, friend's garden. |
| 27 | Sleep environment | Assess Bed placement: quietest, warmest available location, away from draughts and doorways. Small adjustments matter at this stage. |
| 28 | Without guidance | Run today's session without this guide in hand. You should now know the routine intuitively. That knowledge is the programme goal. |
| 29 | Trigger assessment | Return to the 3 triggers from before Day 1. Test each carefully. How has your dog's response changed? |
| 30 | Complete | Full circuit. Full review. 30 days of consistent enrichment, pheromone calm, behaviour modification, and optimised rest. The transformation is complete. |
